My kid's summer school program got out a couple of weeks before his actually birthday so his teachers and classmates sent him (and his teddy bear Joe) off in style--with his super cool birthday crown!

I was sitting on a bench beside Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale at the Malibu Country Mart, watching our kids scamper around in the sand and zip down the slides, and thinking about just how much we all have in common, sitting there with nothing to do on a Monday, our careers going nowhere on that particular day, likely awaiting calls from our agents. We are so, so much alike.

And on the one day I don't have my camera...
